The Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament were founded in 1850, when Sister Maria Micaela began to help the mistreated prostitutes in Madrid.

The Sisters are still active today, throughout the world. They reach out to women in prostitution, and attempt to help them get out of the situation they are in, educate themselves, and find a better life. They run education centers, and provide assistance, in many countries including Peru. They will sometimes go out at night and into dangerous areas in order to find and help women who are trapped in sex trafficking situations. They provide job training, counseling, help in finding lodging, and whatever other services they can offer.

In the 2014 TIP Report, Peru was listed as a Tier 2 country. It is a source, destination, and transit country. Many Peruvian women are trafficked inside Peru for sexual purposes. Some Bolivian girls are found in major cities, and Peruvian girls are sometimes trafficked outside of Peruvian borders.
